Automobiles in German Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Officers reported they were alerted by a resident who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then located many other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say initial examinations suggest the substance was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for details.

A high-ranking official said the vandalism left him speechless and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
