Nearly 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems swept through the state, generating powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.
Large Hailstones and Broad Impact
Homeowners reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities announced that different parts across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams activated to address the extensive power failures.
Victoria's Storm Challenges
At the same time, nearly 1,000 residents in the southern state also encountered energy failures after the capital city recorded its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations responded to over five hundred emergency reports across the region, mostly for building damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

Weather Forecast
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this coming days as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk expected across various areas of both areas.
Health Warning
Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the current weather patterns.
